Success Rates
The first question that comes in mind of the couple undergoing IVF is what is the success rate of the centre! The quick answer is somewhere between 20% to as high as 60%. Unfortunately, a meaningful answer is a lot more complicated. Success rates depend on how you define it. It can be clinical pregnancy rate, ongoing pregnancy rate, or live birth rate. The pregnancy rate also can be per number of couples entering treatment, per oocyte retrieval, or per embryo transfer. Therefore additional factors such as duration of infertility, severity of infertility, age of patient, and other indication involved play a vital role in deciding cumulative success rate.
At our centre, we calculate clinical pregnancy rate per year per patient without any patient selection criteria i.e. as they come on the programme. As can be seen in the graph, it has a range of 42% to 46 % over past 5 years.
